Ces tatoués qui font la peau aux préjugés !
Délinquants, marginaux, ex-taulards… Ainsi sont stigmatisés les adeptes du tatouage dans un rapport de l’Académie Nationale de Médecine publié en décembre dernier. Réaction épidermique des tatoueurs : leurs clients sont très loin de ces clichés. Le tatouage, même très grand format, est aussi et surtout le fait de Monsieur et Madame Toutlemonde. Pour preuve ces hommes et femmes passionnés : ils sont dentiste, avocate, infirmière, policière, artisan, pompier… Et ils cachent sous leur costume de véritables œuvres d’art, parfois fruits d’années de travail. De quoi aiguiller la curiosité et faire peut-être avancer les mentalités.

An American Hero: Frank Buckles,last Veteran of the 1st World War.
He is the last living hero of an event which saw the beginning the « American Century »: after Harry Landis passed away on February 4, 2008 at the age of 108, Frank Woodruff Buckles, 107, born on February 1, 1901, is now the very last of 4,734,991 Americans who served in the First World War between April 6, 1917 and November 11, 1918. 116,516 were killed.

South Africa : the last sanctuary of the Chinese tigers.
Li Quan is a 44-year-old Chinese woman who devotes her life to the protection of the Chinese tiger species. With the help of her husband Stuart Bray, an American businessman, she has created the foundation Save China’s Tigers, and has fought since 1999 to prevent the ancestor of all tigers from disappearing…For there remain only 65 tigers in the zoos in China, and perhaps a few dozen in the wild.
Li Quan’s goal is to create a natural reserve in China where the tigers and other endangered species could live. But consolidating enough land in China would require much time, which is why, in the face of the urgency of the situation, Li Quan turned to South Africa to try out her plan.
So, the last refuge for the Chinese tigers can today be found…in South Africa.
