Le magnifique reportage de Donna Todd sur le peuple renne parait dans le magazine allemand NATUR:
Mongolia: Shamanism reapears from the ashes.
Born during the stone age, around 40,000 years ago, shamanism is a belief in spirits in the sky ground and everything.
Banished from Mongolia for centuries, first by Buddhists then by the communists. Shamanism reapears from the ashes, thanks to the shamans that hid their practises during the black years. Today the old shamans leave the shade and many young shamans are being initiated.

Tsaatan, the reindeer people
The Mongols call them the Man-reindeers. The tribe of Tsaatan lives since 4000 years, in one of the most moved back areas of septentrional Mongolia, in perfect symbiosis with its reindeers. Their survival depends entirely on their herd: the meat and the milk of reindeer, represent almost the only products of which they are nourished.
The skin is used to manufacture shoes and cover-chiefs, wood crossed directly on the animal in life, very appreciated by the Chinese pharmacopeia like aphrodisiac, are used during exchanges to get the essential products like rice, the flour, the tea and salt. But the people of Tsaatan are disappearing… The Australian photographer Donna Todd shared during many weeks their life out of time.
