Theater is making his coming back in China’s countryside, reincorporating his traditional function of popular entertainment supposed to honor gods. However, this coming back is also a symptom of a distressed society.

The incredible castles of Kaiping.
China- In the middle of rice fields, near Canton and three hours away from Hong Kong by car, there are 1833 castles. Their architecture is inspired by middle age and Renaissance French castles. Some of them have art deco styles in their interiors. They were all built between the 15th and the beginning of the 20th century. The 28th June 2007, UNESCO has named this architectural and invaluable treasure « world testimony of humanity ».

Inside the Heart of Chu kingdom.
Ten years ago, a series of bamboo sticks were discovered in a grave near the vestiges of the Chu capital (in the Hubei province not far from the region of the Three Gorges dam). After some years of scientific research and of treatment on these vegetal fibres that were the support of script in the ancient times, today the old characters and their meaning reveals itself to the world. The two most important thinkers of Chinese thought, Lao Tseu and Confucius, from what we knew were in conflict about the conception of the world? This library reveals from a unified point of view the important Chinese philosophical theories, including those of Lao Tseu and Confucius, which is a great surprise ! The oldest library thus rewrites the history of Chinese philosophy.
