English – The bell rings again: it’s the end of the 4th round. The boxers take off their gloves and continue their game of chess. In a couple of minutes, they’ll throw punches at each other again.
Chessboxing is the sport that brings together the two master disciplines of body and mind: English boxing and chess. And it takes a solid will to be able to combine both in a short lapse of time.
Slogan of this happy mix of sports : “Fighting is done on the ring, wars are waged on the board”.
Français – En imaginant le chessboxing dans “Froid Equateur”, troisième tome de la Triologie Nikopol, Enki Bilal n’avait sûrement pas pensé que son concept serait un jour appliqué à la réalité.
C’était sans compter l’artiste hollandais Lepe Rubingh qui a fait du chessboxing un sport en vogue pour les cols-blancs urbains en manque de sensations.
Le chessboxing, c’est le sport qui alterne rounds de boxe anglaise et d’échecs, disciplines reines du corps et de l’esprit. Il faut faire preuve d’une force certaine pour réussir à se concentrer et réussir sur les deux tableaux. Maxime de ce sport déjanté : « les luttes ont lieu sur le ring, les guerres se mènent sur un plateau ».

Sedentary farmers since just ten years ago, the Bana people still live according to the thousand-year-old traditions of a semi-nomad tribe. But for how much longer?
