Reunion Island, 100% wild

Our island, our pride! The inhabitants of La Reunion, a small french island nested in the Indian Ocean, are all in love with their land. And they are right! On this rocky island of less than 1000 square miles, you’ll find rainforests, waterfalls, little islets isolated in rocky circus, rough mountains and a really active volcano. This island is a paradise for outdoor enthusiastics.

The last « Maestro » of Sicilian Puppetry

The historical centre of Palermo houses the last « Opera dei Pupi ». An ancient marionette theatre, the tradition links its roots back to the ‘chanson de geste’ (Songs of deeds) era (Old French literary epics), and Mimmo Cuticchio is it’s sole heir. At 65 years of age, this master of the trade is continuing a family tradition that has spanned a number of centuries. It is a Sicilian art where knights from the time of the crusades are the heroic protagonists in intricate painted frescoes. Francis Ford Coppola has dedicated a scene to Mimmo in the Godfather III. And UNESCO has designated Sicilian Puppet Theatre as part of humanity’s « oral and intangible heritage ». Welcome to the universe of Palermitan puppetry and its star: Mimmo Cuticchio!

Ships breaking men

The shipbreaking yards of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

The Chittagong’s shipbreaking industry is one of the biggest in the world. The growing demand for steel, combined with cheap labour costs are attracting the biggest ships to Bangladesh. But there, the situation is catastrophic: no safety at work, no environmental awareness. Facing the distress of workers who are struggling to survive, it shows a social tragedy in front of an ecological disaster.
