The incredible castles of Kaiping.
China- In the middle of rice fields, near Canton and three hours away from Hong Kong by car, there are 1833 castles. Their architecture is inspired by middle age and Renaissance French castles. Some of them have art deco styles in their interiors. They were all built between the 15th and the beginning of the 20th century. The 28th June 2007, UNESCO has named this architectural and invaluable treasure “world testimony of humanity”.

The palace of Versailles hall of mirrors unveil its new face.
For the first time since its creation more than three hundred years ago, the galerie des glaces (”Hall of Mirrors”) at the famed Palace of Versailles has been entirely restored.
This exclusive photographic report showcases not only the new and improved hall, but all the steps in its three-year-long re-creation: a working site like no other, where state-of-the-art technology would come together with arts and crafts as they were performed under the reign of Louis XIV. More than 12 million euros were necessary for VINCI, the world’s leading construction company, to finance this project.

Warriors of the citadel of Chan Chan
Archeologists from the National Institute for Peruvian Culture (INC) have discovered, in the middle of year 2006, 18 wood statues, a little less than a meter tall, which were keeping the entrance to the Sea Palace, one of the ten royal buildings in Chan Chan, the capital of the Chimu civilization, erected between the 9th and the 15th centuries on the northern coast of what is today Peru. The statues are being studied and protected in the site itself, before being transported to an INC laboratory for their final restoration.
