A nursery for bats
Spectacled Bat, is not really a threatened species. In the north of Australia, they still wander by the hundreds of thousands, although fruit growers do take their toll from these competitors. However, when females drop on the floor under their roosting trees, because they are paralysed by venomous tick bites, when their hopeless babies would be guarantied to die slowly on their breast, Jenny McLean has to intervene! Everyday, during the breeding season, she walks the colonies near her home, collecting sick animals she brings back to Tolga Bat Refuge and puts them "back on the wing"! Unfortunately, many mothers can’t make it so she has to take care of the little orphans, which she is devoted to, day and night, with milk bottle every two hours.
